Cape York - Experience the Adventure
Cape York Peninsula - once in a lifetime
Let us take you through ancient rainforest and across the famous Daintree River to the historic frontier town of Cooktown and the mining town of Weipa. Travelling in our air-conditioned, custom-built 4WD vehicle with our trained driver we visit Bramwell Cattle Station, then on to Bamaga to explore the Cape. Stand on the tip of Cape York, the most northerly point of the mainland. Cruise to Thursday Island, then return to Cairns on a scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef. Or relax and enjoy a luxurious cruise back to Cairns.
Cape Tribulation - Rainforest and Reef
At the southern end of Cape York Peninsula lies the spectacular Cape Tribulation. Here the lush tropical rainforest of the Daintree fringes the coral reefs of the Great Barrier Reef - it's the only place in the world where two World Heritage-listed areas meet. A rich mix of coastal rainforest, mangroves, swamp, pristine white sands and turquoise waters, Cape Tribulation will amaze you.
Thursday Island - Gentle Island in the Sun
Come and meet Australia's Torres Strait Islanders. Thursday Island, the most populated island in the Torres Strait, is home to many Torres Strait Islanders. Experience the relaxed influence of these gentle and friendly people. Take time out to learn of the island's fascinating pearling and military past and the island's culture today.
Outback Queensland - From the Hinterland to the Gulf
A Passport to Outback History
You won't have to travel far in Outback Queensland to discover the fascinating heritage of the area. We visit the desert oasis of Mt Isa and go gem fossicking in Anakie. Enjoy a railway journey aboard the historic Gulflander Train from Normanton to Critters Camp.
Travel the 'Matilda Highway'
The 'Matilda Highway' will take you through some of the Outback Queensland towns that have shaped Australia. Visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton, featuring displays exploring the story behind Banjo Patterson's song. Learn of Australia's pioneering past at the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach. Visit the Qantas Museum, detailing the beginnings of the nation's airline. Close by is the town of Cloncurry, home to the vital Royal Flying Doctor Service and the School of the Air.
Changing Landscapes
The vastness of Outback Queensland supports myriad eco-systems. The stark beauty of the arid Outback gives way to the coastal tropics of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Desert-like environments around the mining town of Mt Isa meet ancient gorges at Carnarvon National Park and dinosaurs leave their tracks on the land at Lark Quarry. It will give you an amazing view into the past of this region.
