Day 1: Darwin - Litchfield National
Park
We leave Darwin and head south across the Elizabeth
and Finniss Rivers to Wangi Falls . Along the
way we'll stop and "Boil the Billy" by a pretty
stream. From here we travel to our permanent
safari camp at "Minjungari" which gets its name
from the beautiful blue water lilies on the
billabong nearby. After lunch the 4WD vehicle
is put to work as we venture further into the
remote, less visited areas of this tropical
wonderland. These falls cascade into beautiful
plunge pools surrounded by tropical rainforests.

Day 2: Nitmiluk National Park
Awake at dawn to take a scenic walk amongst
the eucalypt forest and paperbarks. After breakfast
we break camp and travel south to Pine Creek,
scene of a major gold rush a century ago. We
then continue via the river township of Katherine
. The next two nights will be spent at our Katherine
Camp.

Day 3: Manyallaluk
At Manyallaluk we meet some of the traditional owners of
this area, who will share their knowledge of
bush tucker and bush medicines and demonstrate
their skills in craft work, collection of materials,
woven baskets, mats and bark painting. A chance
also to try your hand at spear throwing, didgeridoo
playing or traditional fire making. (BLD)
Day 4: Katherine Gorge - Kakadu
This morning we continue to Nitmiluk National Park where
we enjoy a cruise on the majestic Katherine
Gorge. After the cruise we travel northwards
into the spectacular stone country of Southern
Kakadu National Park. In the late afternoon
we arrive at Gunlom Falls area and settle in
at our permanent safari camp.

Day 5: Gunlom - Mardugal
You can take an early morning hike to the top
of the falls for spectacular views of the surrounding
country. We continue our journey to the beautiful
Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where you have the
chance for a refreshing swim after a short trek
through the surrounding monsoon vine forest.
This afternoon we visit the Warradjan Aboriginal
Cultural Centre, an impressive building built
in the shape of the local freshwater turtle.
Here you will learn about the traditional Aboriginal
owners of the park, their culture, beliefs and
lifestyles. In the late afternoon we enjoy a
sunset cruise on the world-renowned Yellow Water
wetlands. Here we have a chance to see the teeming
bird life and perhaps, the awesome saltwater
crocodile. Our accommodation for the next two
nights is at our permanent safari camp at Mardugal.
Camp: Mardugal, Kakadu National Park , 2 nights.

Day 6: Jim Jim Falls - Twin Falls
Today we travel along the 4WD track to Jim
Jim and Twin Falls . At Jim Jim, we can explore
the gorge at the base of the tallest cascade
in the Territory. Here we have the opportunity
for a refreshing swim in the plunge pool. In
the afternoon we visit Twin Falls Gorge, where
we travel by shuttle boat firstly, and then
explore on foot to the base of the falls. Late
in the afternoon we return to our safari camp
at Mardugal. (BLD)
Day 7: Kakadu National Park - Darwin
After breaking camp we visit Burrungui (Nourlangie
Rock), a large sandstone outlier towering more
than 200 metres above the surrounding area,
sheltering 20,000 years of Aboriginal culture
depicted in art forms in many galleries. We
turn for home along the Old Jim Jim road, making
a short stop at the Bark Hut Inn. Arriving back
in to Darwin
around 17:00. (BL)
Note: A good level of fitness is required.
