Day 1: Alice Springs - Kata Tjuta
(the Olgas)
Travel from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Resort
stopping to view majestic Atila ( Mt. Conner
) on the way. This afternoon tour to Kata Tjuta
and enjoy a 2-3 hour walk to the Valley of the
Winds lookout. The walking path is rocky and
requires a good level of fitness. View a majestic
'outback' sunset before travelling to our BBQ
venue to enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner and
stargazing (weather permitting). Vegetarian
meals are available upon request at time of
booking.
Accommodation: Ayers Rock Resort - choice of
accommodation, 2 nights. (D)
Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
This morning there is the option to do the
Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18)
or the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural
Base Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit
to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru
- Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. See page
15 for more itinerary details. There is time
for an optional scenic flight (own expense).
This evening watch sunset at Uluru whilst
enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine.
Day 3: Kings Canyon - Alice Springs
An early start from Ayers Rock Resort should
reward us with a magnificent desert sunrise
en - route to Kings Canyon . Breakfast may be
purchased at Kings Creek Station (own expense).
Make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon
for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park
. The walk takes 3 hours and is recommended
for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively,
you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon
floor. Stop at Kings Canyon Resort to purchase
lunch (own expense) before returning to Alice
Springs .
Note: During the hotter months, part of the
Valley of the Winds walk and the Kings Canyon
rim climb may not be available. Alternative
touring on Day 1 and/or Day 3 may apply.
